Players can see which one currently has the edge based on the background. Defeating a dark spirit, denoted by a black orb, helps Galeem, while defeating a light spirit, denoted by a white orb, helps Dharkon. In order to receive the true ending, players will need to find a way to take both entities down to restore balance. However, most players will want to ignore both bosses for the time being. Helping either Galeem or Dharkon, the leader of the dark world, determines which ending will be shown after the first time through. As players find out during the course of gameplay, there's a world of light and a world of darkness, both battling each other for control with the player stuck in the middle to decide who wins.
